If your order shows the green Delivered badge and no email has turned up, your code exists and nothing has been lost. The email is one way of delivering it. Your account is the other, and it is the one that does not depend on an inbox behaving.
Most people write to us before trying the second route, which costs them a wait they did not need. Here it is first.
Open it yourself, in about thirty seconds
- Sign in at onyxgift.com
- Open Orders and tap the order
- Tap Reveal my code
- Enter the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app
The card number or PIN appears on the page, along with the face value. Each value stays masked until you press the eye beside it, and the copy button works while it is still masked, so the usual path never puts the code on screen at all. The full walkthrough is here.
In the same box there is a second button, "Email them to me instead", if you would rather have another copy sent to your inbox than read it on screen.
Before that: two places the email usually is
Worth ten seconds, because it is where most missing codes turn out to be.
- Spam or junk. A first message from a new sender carrying a long alphanumeric string is close to the shape of the thing spam filters are built to catch.
- Gmail's Promotions tab. Not missing, just not in the inbox you were looking at.
Search your mail for the order number rather than for our name. Filters that move a message often leave the search working.
Why there is a 6-digit code in the way
A gift card code is a bearer value. Whoever reads it first can spend it, and there is no step after that where an account name is checked. That is what makes it convenient, and it is also why showing it on a web page needs more than a password.
So the reveal is behind 2-step verification. If you have not turned that on yet, tapping Reveal my code sends you to set it up first rather than showing an error. It takes about a minute and you only do it once: turning on 2-step verification, step by step.
The one case where you genuinely need us
Read the paragraph above again and you will spot the loop.
Turning on 2-step verification requires a code sent to your email. So if your email is not merely slow but actually broken, wrong address on the order, a full mailbox, a corporate filter blocking us outright, then you cannot reach the reveal either, because the thing standing in front of it also arrives by email.
There is no self-service way out of that, and pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon. Write to [email protected] with your order number and we will sort it from our side. A human has to break that loop; that is the honest answer.
If 2-step verification is already on, none of this applies. The reveal works with no new email at all.
When this page is the wrong page
Three different problems get described with the same sentence, and only one of them is this one. Check which you have before following anything above.
| The badge on your order | What is actually happening |
|---|---|
| Delivered, no email | This page. The code exists, open it in your account. |
| Awaiting payment or Processing | Nothing has been issued yet. See what to check when a crypto payment has not confirmed. |
| Delivered, code arrived, the store rejects it | A different problem with three possible causes. See read the error first. |
If the badge does not say Delivered, no reveal button will appear, because there is nothing behind it yet. How long delivery actually takes sets out which part of the wait is the blockchain and which part is us.
Frequently asked questions
Is my code lost if the email never arrives?
No. The email is a copy, not the original. A delivered order holds its code in your account and you can open it there whenever you want, including years later.
I do not have an authenticator app. What now?
Install one first: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy and 1Password all work. The site walks you through pairing it when you tap Reveal my code. It is a one-time setup and it protects every future order too.
Can you just email the code to me again?
Yes, and there is a button for it inside the reveal box, "Email them to me instead". It goes to the same address as the original, so if that address is the problem, use support instead.
Why is a password not enough to see my own code?
Because a code is spendable by whoever reads it. A password that leaks anywhere else would be enough to empty every delivered order in the account. The second factor is what stops one reused password costing you the balance.
I entered the right code and it was refused.
After several wrong attempts the entry locks for a short time, and while it is locked a correct code is refused as well. The screen shows a countdown. Wait for it to reach zero rather than trying again, because each attempt during the lock extends it.
The order is not mine to open. Can someone else reveal it?
Only the account that placed the order can, and only with that account's authenticator. If you bought it as a gift, reveal it yourself and pass on the code.
